Happy Birthday My Sweet Kaison!

Today we are celebrating our youngest son Kaison's 3rd birthday!  Circus style!
(Pic's will probably be up tomorrow.)

Kaison was the sweetest baby.  He is such a blessing.  Although, I was determined that our second child would be a girl...because well...we already had a boy!  I didn't want two of them!  ;D  So when the time came to have that special ultrasound done I was incredibly sure of myself and felt in my heart it was a girl...it had to be!  There the technician sat smiling asking me if I wanted to know, and as she told me...that word "BOY" slipped from her mouth.

I immediately started balling (selfishly), I was terrified to have two boys.  Terrified they'd eat me alive and run me ragged!  The technician was not impressed with my crying and I got a seriously dirty look.  They wouldn't ever show me his "parts" to confirm this shocking news, so part of me was in denial.  Come to find out they discovered he had a club foot, that's why he was sitting indian style in every ultrasound covering his "parts".  Once I found out about the club foot, nothing else mattered!  My precious baby boy had something wrong, and at that time I didn't understand what a club foot was or meant for him...so to me it was huge and I hurt for him like any mom would.  All that mattered was taking care of him the best we could.

Kaison was born at 38 weeks.  Perfect and precious, club foot and all.  Over the next 6 weeks he endured castings of his foot, the casts were changed weekly.  So I only got to see his precious foot once a week.  No baths for him, I longed to bathe him for the first time.  I ached every time they took the cast off because I knew how sensitive his skin was to the air.  But the evidence of our incredible surgeon's knowledge and how beautifully Kaison's foot was transforming in front of our eyes was worth it.  At the 7th week he had a surgery to lengthen his tenden which was followed by 3 more weeks of a cast.  And let me just say his casts "ROCKED" literally....I drew on them with sharpies every new cast.  Collage style doodles.  He had his first bath at 10 weeks old!

When all was done he was put into braces and still to this day is wearing them to sleep in to keep the foot corrected.  He actually goes back this month to his surgeon for a check up and we will see if we are done with the braces forever or not.  Fingers crossed we are, but what ever is best for him is what we want to do.

Now at the age of 3, Kaison is an incredibly goofy kid.  He's totally into make believe and pretend play.  I LOVE it!  He makes me laugh daily as I watch him play.  Loves to sing.   He's so smart just like his brother.  He adores his older brother, like seriously looks up to this kid in the most amazing way.  The way he says good morning to us is priceless and precious.  Oh and he's definitely a little bit of trouble too.  Quite sneaky!   ;D

Kaison's full name is Kaison Asher Lopez.  We chose Asher as his middle name not only because it's sounds awesome..but because it is Hebrew for Blessed & Fortunate.  Which I so strongly believe he is.  I of course fell in deep love with this boy at his birth and long before that.  Once he was born I couldn't imagine my life without him.  Yes there are still days I want a girl.  That will pass I'm sure eventually.  But recently I felt God telling me the real reason he picked Kaison for me and our family.  Our older son is 7 1/2 and adores his brother.  They are best friends, without Kaison's relationship I think Corbyn would have truly missed out.  He needed him in his life, and I'm so excited to see how they grow together as adults and the special relationship they'll have.  As for why God gave him to me...well I think that the love of a son is different.  Different in so many special ways.  I love hearing how beautiful I am from them, and how pretty my hair looks.  I most especially love their embraces much more, there's nothing like it!  God put him in my life to laugh daily, and feel more love than I know what to do with.  I'm so thankful God knew what was best for me and this family, he always does.  And I'm so thankful for my sweet, goofy, incredibly smart Kaison Asher.

Happy Birthday sweet boy!  Momma loves you more than you know.
