Top 10 Halloween Costume Ideas

This week's Top 10 list is all about DIY Halloween Costume Ideas.  Most of these featured are DYI, a few are examples from Etsy stores...but could very easily been done at home!  I'm all about making at least some part of my kids costumes.  For me it's special, I feel like there costume is unique in some way because I took the time to put some love into it.  Now don't get me wrong...I think store bought is fine too!  I just prefer to have some part of the costume if not the whole thing handcrafted (and usually it's just a few things, not the whole thing).

In years past my oldest has been Buzz Lightyear (store bought, this was before I'd given any thought into making something).  He was a Pei Wei Asian Diner "Kitchen Manager" Chef (Aka..Daddy!)  I bought a chef uniform that matched identically to Gonzalo's, and hand painted a hat to match my hubby's and the chef coat to match the logos, etc...  The following year he was a Doctor, bought the scrubs and once again made accessories and the scrubs personalized.  Then he was a Cowboy (made chaps, rock and roll cowboy shirt, hat) and I made Kaison's costume from scratch...he was the Indian!  Last year they went as Pirates, all pieced together or made items.  This coming Halloween I still have no idea what they will be, but I love the challenge of it none the less.

These are adorable! I am also a fan of making my sons' costumes. I try to make them coordinate (the tortoise and the hare, Buzz & Woody, but this year they each want to be their own thing....I guess that happens when they grow up!) I'm your latest follower from the Miss Mommy Tuesday 10 :) ~Tina @www.mamaslikeme.com

Tina - I know what you mean! I love themes that go together. This year I was thinking Peter Pan & Captain Hook, which our 3 yr. old is totally cool with...our 7 yr. old on the other hand thinks it's lame! So now were up in the air about either Nacho Libre & his sidekick....or Generic Superhero's I design myself. And thanks for joining the blog! I hope you enjoy it! I love Miss Mommy! Have a great week.

I think the Marry Poppins themed costumes are my favorites! I have never dressed up for Halloween before, but if I had a little boy and girl...I would totally do this set. Marry Poppins rocks!

LOVE the owl costume. Last year I went the DIY route and my husband and youngest were DJ Lance Rock & Foofa from Yo Gabba Gabba and my oldest wanted to be Pippi Longstocking. This year we are doing Curious George and Man With The Yellow Hat and my oldest is still trying to narrow it down!

Where are the sources of these photos?

Hi, I am the creator of the Tinkerbell dress you have here. I would love it if you would either make sure my store is linked to this photo or remove it. I am all about making your own costumes and have no problem with using my dress as insperation, but I do work hard at creating my designs and photos and would like the source linked.
