Paint pine-cones!

Simple.  Cheap.  Very festive. 

Most of us have pine-cones around our neighborhood somewhere, and I haven't met a person yet that cares if you take them from their yard...it means they won't have to clean them up!  Get some spray paint, even if you have some left over latex paint in great colors you could dip them!  Fill a vase or several vases and place them on an entry table or around the house.
