Happy Halloween!

Boo!
Eeek!
Spooky!

I hope you all have a wonderful day with your kiddo's!  I'm incredibly blessed that I get the opportunity to go spend the day with Corbyn at school in his class for their party, watch their costume parade through the whole school, and then take both boys trick or treating tonight.  Just so you know this will be my first time EVER trick or treating tonight too!  We weren't allowed to go as kids.  So this should be fun!

Pictures will come a little later of my little Scuba Diver and Shark and their incredibly cute DIY costumes!

DIY Hurricane Style Vases

A couple weeks ago a friend from San Diego contacted me about creating some baby shower items for a co-worker of hers.  She wanted an owl theme with green, brown, & pink.  Whoo doesn't love owls?  (get it whoo - whoo, like an owl...okay I'm a nerd!)  Anyways.  This baby shower was being held at a restaurant and they were told specifically nothing that created a mess of any kind could be used to decorate!  So I needed to create some things for a table next to where they would be eating.  And this is what we came up with.
First I found these amazingly glorious pictures frames at Hobby Lobby (all table frames always 50% off!).  The frames were originally HOT PINK, and that wasn't the right pink so I sprayed them light pink.  (prime first people!)  They turned out great!  Then I created some subway art and a owl print for the frames to match the theme.  I seriously love these frames, I want to buy some for me!
I still needed something to go with the frames that my friend Lexy could take home on the plane with her as a carry on, so I decided to make these hurricane inspired vases / candle holders.  They turned out so cute.  And she will just be filling the small hurrican with some green lentils and a candle, and the taller hurricane vase will hold flowers on the table.
These vases are so incredibly easy to make I'd thought I would share them with you.  And cheap, did I mention cheap, no...well they are cheap-o!  But when your done they look like you spent more than $2 bucks on each one!

What You'll Need:

*  Glass candle stick holders from the dollar store
(found these at Dollar Tree)
*  Glass hurricane style vases or any large candle holder/vase you like from the dollar store or Goodwill
*  E6000 glue (amazing glue)
* Glitter (I use Martha Stewart glitter, that lady knows glitter!)
* Spay paint (your choice of color)
* Spray primer
* Clear gloss or satin spray paint to seal the glitter
* Modge Podge & paintbrush

Party Time!

I hope everyone is having a fall-tastic weekend full of pumpkin carving, costume making, hot cocoa, and most importantly parties!  This week I've been working on some custom order items for a baby shower for a friend in San Diego.  So I thought for this weeks edition of Party Time I would dedicate it to baby showers.  Now baby showers have come a long way, and I think it's appropriate to highlight some really amazing parties.

Meet the woman who gave me life...

If you know me personally you know that I'm incredibly thankful for my Mom!  Not only is she the best Grandma to our boys, not only is she the most incredible Mom in the world, she just happens to be my very best friend!

This incredible woman raised 2 kids (me & my brother Josh) all on her own after her divorce from our Dad.  Putting herself through nursing school to support our family.  Sacrificing so much for us.  I hope someday I can come close to paying her back for all she's done for us, although I'm not sure I will ever come close to paying her back!
Me & My Mom!

My Mom Lauretta is the Mom that took us to church 3 times a week, every Sunday morning & evening service, and every Wednesday service.  A lot of people could resent that by the time they are 18.  Not me, I'm so thankful each and everyday that she planted the seed of faith in my life, that she helped to water it and nourished it...that she stood by the seed while it began to wilt and continued to water it until it came back to life.  She's an incredible woman of God who possesses so much Godly knowledge it's fascinating.  She's a tremendous speaker, I love all the times I have had the opportunity to hear her speak.  She's an amazing teacher of God's word.  She's so wise.
My Mom has an amazing daily blog called The Plumbline.  If you are someone who is interested in developing your faith, or growing your heart and passion in understanding God's word please take a look at her blog.  She's an amazing writer and really puts things into a simple easy to understand read.  So go HERE and check her out.  And make sure to follower her if you like her writings!  I promise you won't be disappointed!

Faux Pearl Baby Girl Onesie & Tutorial

Okay so I've made a couple of these baby girl onesies now, so I thought I would share them with you all.  Extremely easy to do, and such a cute finished product great for gift giving or for your own little one to wear.

}}}}}}}}}} ::::: {{{{{{{{{{

Here's what you will need to make your own:

* Onesie in the size & color of your choice
(stick with the solid colors)
* Puff paint
(I did not like the tulip brand, it doesn't come out as puffy as the other brand.
I've also hear they have one that is velveted?! Not sure but that would be cool too!)
* Fabric or ribbon for a rosette
* Glue gun for rosette
* Piece of cardstock or cardboard for inside of the onesie
* Needle & thread

}}}}}}}}}} ::::: {{{{{{{{{{

Place a piece of cardboard or cardstock inside between the layers of the onesie.  This will help it from leaking through to the back side.  It will also give a firmer surface to work on.  I originally wanted to try dipping the ends of paint brushes into the puffy paint and then onto the onesie for a smoother more even dot...but it wasn't working like I was hoping.  So I went back to free handing it with the bottle.
Start with your first row of beads.  I made this onesie with multiple strands...smallest to largest on the bottom.  You can mix and match your sizes and make them however you'd like.
Finish as many layers of beads as you'd like.  You will see in the picture below that I made a bit of an ooops on mine!  I didn't put the strands close enough together at the top under the little should flap things.  They should be closer together like a real necklace would fall on your neck.  I also tape back the should flaps if the onesie has them before I start the painting.  That way they don't touch the paint until it's dry.
Make your rosette.  Any size, or any color to coordinate with your onesie.  On this black onesie I chose a vibrant purple.  It's bright and I love it!  Looks great against the black with the crisp white beads.  After the rosette is made attach it to your onesie with a needle and thread.  Be sure to get in on there good so that during washing and wear it won't come off.
Here are the finished products.
This baby pink onesie was the first one I made.  I made the rosette out of this adorable natural colored lace from walmart that is sold by the spool.  I loved the softness of it's color against the pink.  After I made the rosette I had some lace left over so I decide to sew some with some invisible thread to the leg openings of the onesie to add a bit more loveliness!  It turned out sweet & simple.
Enjoy, and happying crafting!
These onesies after you make them fabulous can be washed in cold water turned inside out.  I would just line dry them!

Tuesday Top 10 - Soup recipes

Well since the weather will finally be below 90 degrees here in Arizona this week, and is probably chilly enough everywhere else...I figured I'd put together some soup recipes that are sure to comfort you and leave you feeling all cozy.

This post is linked up to Miss Mommy and her Tuesday Top 10 link party.

Day 20
Last but certainly not Least!

This Black Velvet Cake is perfect for your Halloween party or just for a night at home with family to make things a little more festive.  This is a double project because not only is there the recipe for the cake, but how to make the topper too!  Score.  Enjoy everyone.  And thank you so much if you have read my 20 Days of Halloween Projects posts.  I'm thinking of doing a 20 Days of Christmas as well when we hit December (eeek, only a little over a month!)Cakepiece

20 Days of Halloween Projects - Day 19

Day 19

This is the last kid focused project on my list.  If your anything like me you'd rather paint your decorate your pumpkins, and not carve them.  I loved the whole carved pumpkin thing, I just hate the mess and the fact that the neighbor kids usually smash them...which results in 2 very sad little boys!  So last year we started painting them and only displaying them in our backyard to keep them safe.  This project is perfect for your little ones.  And they can even keep their little spider pumpkin in their rooms to add a little Halloween flair.  Since I couldn't get the source to work again I will tell you what you need to do.

You will need small mini-pumpkins, black acrylic paint, foam brushes, black pipe-cleaners, white felt, and glue that holds well.  First start by painting the entire pumpkin black.  Then create the eyes for the spider by cutting 2 small white circles and gluing them onto the pumpkin, then take the end of your paint brush stick and dip it in the black acrylic paint to dab on the black eye dot in the center of the white felt circle.  Then create a white felt mouth and glue it on.  Take your pipe-cleaners and help bend them into spider legs, and then glue them on.  Let let the glue dry.

Party Time!

I hope everyone had a good week, and your enjoying your weekend so far.  Let's get right to it....parties!
Who doesn't love a good party?!  I found some great one, like always.  This first one may be my favorite though...not a theme that has been done often, so it's fresh and cute!

20 Days of Halloween Projects - Day 18

Day 18

Again I don't have a source for this next project, I think something funky was going on with my Pinterest when I was writing these last couple posts.  Sorry.  : (

This wreath couldn't be any simpler to make!  You will need either a foam pool noodle (duct taped together at ends to create a wreath form) or a foam wreath from your craft store.  You will also need a glue gun, and some orange feather boa's which you could totally just measure while your buying your wreath so you know how many to purchase.  This would also look great with black boa's!  And simply just glue your end to the back of the wreath and wrap and glue again as you go.  You could add glittery spiders, or bats, or just leave it plain!  Either way it will be fabulous!

20 Days of Halloween Projects - Day 17

Day 17

Making these pumpkins for your last minute Halloween decorations or even for your fall Thanksgiving decor can't be that difficult.  This next picture doesn't have a source, but I have a pretty good idea it was simple.  Take dryer vent tubing from your local hardware store, and bend it into a circle (then cut the length you want).  I would hot glue it closed.  Then spray paint either orange or cream, I personally love the cream!  You will need some spanish moss to glue to the top, and either a larger branch or a cinnamon stick for the stem.  And viola...You've got a pumpkin!  Cute & simple.

I just want to brag for a second...I'm a Mom, it's allowed!

Since birth I've known that Corbyn is someone incredible, a blessing in so many ways, and a true gift.  Born at only 5 pounds, 4 ounces...extremely jaundiced, cord wrapped twice around neck, and would have been still born had I waited much longer to deliver him due to me being eclamptic.  Poor kid had a rough 3 day labor with his momma, and did so wonderfully through it all...it was then I knew God had a very special plan for him.
Since his birth I have wrangled this high energy boy many a days, trying to keep up with him...which seemed to be impossible some days.  I have watched him grown, getting compliment after compliment on how handsome he is.  How polite he is.  How caring he is.  Corbyn from early on has been incredibly smart.  He loves science, and anything having to do with building, invention, or just being creative.  It amazes me and excites me to see his passion for those things.  He would much rather be given a giant box of pipes, tools, wood, and miscellaneous parts to create something from his imagination (usually a contraption that serves a purpose) than sit and play video games all day.  He loves being outside and playing sports.  Let me just say this kid has quite an arm and can throw!!!  He's awesome at karate.  He's just awesome in general.

Team Lexi

This Lexi with her super pretty Momma, Becky!

A little over a week ago I shared Lexi's story with you, you can read about it HERE in the original post.  This is a reminder for those of you who have dealt with this disease or know someone who has to help support such a great cause in finding a cure.
The Phoenix Epilepsy Walk that will be coming up on Saturday November 19th at Steele Indian School Park.  If you or anyone you know would like to participate in this great cause, or donate to the cause you can go HERE to Lexi's team page and set up an account to either walk with the team or simply just donate HERE at the donation page.

And, it's not just Lexi...in the United States, one in one-hundred, or one percent of individuals are diagnosed with epilepsy; approximately 65,000 of those individuals live in Arizona. And, one in ten individuals will have a seizure in his or her lifetime.  One-third of all people with epilepsy will continue to have seizures despite treatment.  Chances are we all know someone who suffers from this disease.  So let's show them our support.

The goal Becky has set for team Lexi in fundraising is $5,000.  So far to date they have raised $920.  Becky even posted last night on her facebook page that for a second she thought she had set the goal too high, then she took her thought back and said "No Way".  So let's all help in anyway we can.  If it's financially with a few bucks, walking along side them in the walk, re-posting this on your blog or facebook page, or just in prayer please help in any way you can!

Tuesday Top 10 - My Favorite Beauty & Hair Products

This weeks Top 10 list is all about my favorite hair & make-up products.  I will just warn you, I'm nothing fancy and I don't use any fancy products...I'm a girl on a budget, and I make inexpensive things work!  And as always I'm linking this post up with Miss Mommy and her weekly Top 10 Post.  So let's get this list rolling...

#1
These are my all time favorite eye shadow colors.  (if it wasn't $14 I'd totally be buying me some pink freeze right now!)  It's MAC's "Pink Freeze" & "Trax" eyeshadow.  And let's just say I've been using the same "Trax" eyeshadow for 8 or 9 years (don't judge me, I know it probably has disgusting germs...but I can't toss it!)  The "Pink Freeze" ran out last year, and I've yet to replace it...sniff.
