The Glitter Academy Recap

This past Thursday night I was able to attend The Glitter Academy for the first time, and all I can say is I will most definitely be attending it again!  Can't wait.  I was able to go with some friends.  My crafty friend Michelle went with me, and I met up with my friend Kimberly from A Night Owl for dinner before hand at Chipoltle (yum).  This event was hosted by Kristyn from Lil' Luna, and Jamielyn from I Heart Nap Time.  The event had lots of other local bloggers in attendance, including Kim Stoegbauer from The TomKat Studios.  Kim was the special guest speaker and answered lots of questions about her blogging career and gave great insight into taking your passion and turning it into something amazing.  She truly is a blessed lady, and it was a real treat to get to chat with someone who has had such amazing success with her passion for crafting and parties.  Did I mention that she's so beautiful too!  I've met her once before while strolling the isles of Hobby Lobby, and I acted like a nerd who saw their idol...this time I was much more composed!  Ha. Ha.

This event was basically a night for connecting with other bloggers, and crafting.  And although I took a bunch of things to craft, I didn't make one thing.  I chatted the whole time.  They had an amazing dessert table that was styled by Kim and her team at The TomKat Studios.  Filled with yummy treats like cupcakes, cake pops, and these super delicious almond sugar cookies.  There was also an ice cream table set up from Sub Zero, which was awesome to watch since they make the ice cream with Nitrogen.  Let me just tell you that was some of the best ice cream I've ever had.  I picked a raspberry cheesecake flavor and it was so smooth and creamy.  Definitely taking Corbyn this week sometime for a treat, he will get a huge kick out of the liquid Nitrogen..he's such a science boy.  Check out these honkin' huge balloons, aren't they awesome!
They also had some great boutiques set up for us to shop, I didn't buy anything this go round.  I did however did win a necklace from Origami Owl, which is cool because I was just looking at the website two days before.  They are a locket style necklace.  You pick a locket, a chain, and the charms you want to put inside the locket.
This is the one that I won.
So that was fun.  I will admit though...I really wanted to win the Silhouette Cameo they gave away, it just wasn't meant for me though.  Bummer.  When will I get a Silhouette?  WHEN!?!  Okay I'm done with my little pitty party.  And this is the cupcake that eyeballed me all night until I finally asked my friend Kimberly to eat it already!
I had such a good time, and I'm so looking forward to the next Glitter Academy!

In blog events like this one, are you invited or do the hosts charge a fee? Just thinking about doing one for my area and trying to understand the approach. Thanks!
