Seasonal Character Door Hanger

10/17/2016 13 Comments

Seasonal Character Door HangerMy front porch needed some fresh holiday decor for Halloween, I really don’t have any outdoor decor for holidays except Christmas and I have no idea why. Today I’m sharing my version of the Home Depot DIH Workshop Seasonal Character Door Hanger.

This project was so easy to make, learn to make your own by registering for the upcoming DIH Workshop at your local Home Depot Store. Every store across the country holds monthly DIH Workshops specifically to help women gain experience using power tools, amazing right?! It’s the perfect opportunity for a girls night out with friends!

Here’s the original inspiration that I was given, I was asked to come up with my own version of this project. I came up with some geared more towards my favorite holiday colors – you guessed it black and white. It definitely needed to be Halloween too, so a traditional Jack O’ Lantern was part of my design.

dih-workshopAfter painting my entire surface white with Behr Ultra in Ultra Pure White I traced a pretty basic Jack O’ Lantern pattern onto the front of my door hanger. Then just painted the design on with Behr Ultra paint in black.

I thought his hat needed to be something fun so I chose to paint on black and white stripes of course.

Seasonal Character Door Hanger

Seasonal Character Door HangerI did add large eye hooks to the top of my door hanger, and added rope for hanging…but then I ended up not using it right now because my kids kept going in and out of the door so much with our metal security door and it made so much noise. So I decided to prop it right by our front door with our fall decor. It’s perfect!

Did I mention that it can be double sided? I’m thinking I may decorate the other side with the snowman for Christmas.
