Valentine’s Day Mantel

Valentine's Day MantelOne of my favorite spots to decorate in my home is my fireplace mantel, especially for holidays.  I don’t decorate for every single holiday, but most.  Today I’m so happy to share my Valentine’s Day Mantel with you.

Can you tell what my favorite color is this year?  I used the same colors that I used in my Christmas Mantel design this past year and I love it.  I love my giant chalkboard that I made (I still have to add the finishing details of my antiqued L-brackets) it makes me super happy.  Want to make your own chalkboard, you can see my DIY Travel Map Chalkboard and basically just make a larger version like I did.

When I was brainstorming ideas for this years Valentine’s Day Mantel I had seen a vintage photo of a Las Vegas wedding chapel.  So I thought it would be fun to create a chalkboard themed around that.  How cute is my little Cupid, I just found a clip art of a Cupid I liked and drew him out in a larger version on my chalkboard.

Valentine's Day MantelI kept things simple and added some wood hearts that I covered in washi tape and textured scrapbook paper.

I made this quick and easy “Lucky in Love” wood sign.  I already had the scrap wood lying around so I just made a quick stencil with my vinyl and made a quick sign.  I cut out some hearts using a textured polka dot turquoise cardstock and made some Cupid arrows and stuck them in a vase.

The arrow is one of my favorite things, I actually purchased it last month when I was in Utah and had the chance to visit The Wood Connection.  It’s actually two separate pieces that I painted and put together with some jute twine.  I kept the colors neutral so I can use it all the time.

Valentine's Day Mantel I love the little hints to Las Vegas, fun fact – that is where we originally wanted to be married, but stayed in Arizona instead to be married.  Although we did honeymoon in Vegas, so this mantel totally reminds me of that.  And since our 11 year wedding anniversary is next month it makes it even more special.
