Summer Wood Banner

Summer-Wood-Banner

This past week I’ve been sharing some of the fun stuff I created for the Kick Off Summer Giveaway that happened a couple weeks ago.  I shared the Free Summer Cupcake / Food Topper Printables, and Free Summer Printable 8×10″ that I designed for that giveaway.  Today I’m sharing this Summer Wood Banner that was also part of the giveaway.

If you’re looking for a fun weekend craft this is it.  This Summer Wood Banner is the perfect mix of fun bright Summer colors.  You know how much I love my DecoArt Americana Home Decor Chalky Finish Paints!  These three colors are my current faves:  Refreshing, Delicate, & Smitten.  I’ve used them in so many projects lately and they were my inspiration for all the Summer Home Decor I’ve created so far.  By the way you can now find select colors in Michaels stores, as well as Home Depot in store & online!

I am also in love with everything from The Wood Connection!  I love all their products, especially the slat signs & these wood banner pieces that I used to create this project.  If you live near a local store I highly urge you to go in and visit them, or shop online!  You will love it all!

Supplies:

–  Wood banner pieces from The Wood Connection
–  DecoArt Americana Home Decor Chalky Finish Paint (Refreshing, Delicate, Smitten, Everlasting)
–  Foam brushes
–  Foam round dobber brush
–  Painters tape
–  Jute twine

I started by painting my wood banner pieces with their base colors.  I painted 4 with the Everlasting – White as their base coat, and the other two I painted Delicate – Yellow.  It only takes 1 to 2 coats of the chalky finish paints using your foam brush.

Once the base coats are dry you can use the painters tape to create stripes on the 4 white banner pieces.  Paint your Refreshing – Mint, and Smitten – Coral stripes with a foam brush. Remove painters tape when almost dry (carefully).  For the polka dots on the Delicate – Yellow banner pieces you can use a round foam dobber brush and the Everlasting – White paint.

When everything is dry you can string your banner pieces with jute twine or bakers twine.

This banner & these colors seriously make me so happy!  It definitely screams Summer, it would also be perfect for Spring don’t you think?!  I’m in love with it.  Here are two other projects using these colors that you can find on the blog.
