Downton Abbey Tea Party with World Market

12/16/2013 3 Comments

Downton Abbey Tea PartyLast weekend I was able to host a Downton Abbey Tea Party for friends and family to celebrate the upcoming new season of Downton Abbey.  World Market put together such a fun social media event and encouraged readers to join us for the largest virtual tea party.

We gathered together on social media for 4 hours with pinky’s up ready to #DoTheDownton, we shared our love of Downton Abbey and all the fun we were having at our tea parties.

My Grandma is originally from Scotland and never misses her daily dose of hot tea.  So I used this fun event to also celebrate her 95th birthday that she celebrated this week.  This was a special treat for her and I’m so glad I was able to provide that for her.

I set up a simple table filled with tea party food and some very simple decorations.  One of my favorite parts are the super sweet scalloped tin cake stands from World Market.  They were perfect for stacking my treats on.

Every guest received a limited edition Downton Abbey tea cup in a special gift box, and a tote bag.

I grabbed lots of goodies from World Market, their international food section is so much fun to shop.  I found wonderful blueberry scone mix, lemon curd, smoked gouda cheese spread, savory crackers, Walker shortbread cookies, and I can’t forget the minced meat pies.

I made some cute labels and toppers for decor, including some Union Jack flags.  Added touches of gold for a bit of elegance to accent my simple decor.

I made cute tea sandwiches, my boys loved them.  We made egg salad, and cucumber with cream cheese & dill.  I also served some savory items like salami, and cheese to go with the crackers.

We all sipped on this amazing Downton Abbey – special edition tea by The Republic of Tea.  I am in love with this tea, the smell of it alone is heavenly.  It’s an earl gray tea with vanilla.

We had such a great time, and this was such a treat for our family & friends to spend some time together.  I loved that my boys were just as enthused to be a part of the tea party action as the adults were.  Not everyone wanted to be in the photos, but here is a look at me and my amazing Mom.  I tried my hardest to get my pinky up, but I must be broken because I couldn’t hold the cup and put up my pinky.

You still have time to enter this amazing giveaway from World Market.  It would be such an amazing trip!

What a gorgeous afternoon tea party, I’m sure your Grandma loved it! The treats look delicious and the simple decoration sets the scene perfectly.

Where did you get the silver lattice container in several of the pictures? It is just beautiful!

Hi Michele, thanks for asking. Are you talking about the gold round piece with handle? It’s actually from Goodwill, and I’m embarrassed to say I have no idea what it’s really used for. Ha!
