Fancy Framed Chalkboard Ornaments & Giveaway

Disclosure | I am a member of the core blogger program with DecoArt.  I received compensation and product for this post.  All ideas and opinions are 100% my own.

I love making ornaments for my tree every year.  It gives me the opportunity to create one of a kind ornaments that go with my ever changing themes.  This year I went with a chalkboard theme in my Christmas decor.  That means I was going to need chalkboards on my tree, not just any chalkboards though…super cute Fancy Framed Chalkboard Ornaments.  These were such a fun, and pretty easy to make.  Be sure to check out all the other DecoArt bloggers and their fun ornament ideas below.

Supplies:

– Mini Fancy Frames (I found mine at Michaels in the dollar bins)
– DecoArt Americana Chalkboard Paint
– Foam Brush
– Jute Twine or Bakers Twine
– Glue Gun
– Chalk or Chalkboard Marker

There is no need to remove anything from the frame, your going to paint directly on to the plastic of the frame.  You will need to apply 2 coats of Americana Chalkboard paint with your foam brush. Let it dry between coats.

Once it’s dry you will need to glue some kind of hanger to the bag.  I chose to use jute twine, but you could use any kind of string.  Just hot glue it to the back of the frame.

Season your chalkboard surface with a piece of white chalk, wipe off any excess chalk with a paper towel or soft cloth.

Use your chalk or chalkboard marker to write your message.

I chose to write “Merry Christmas” in a few different languages.  These are the perfect addition to my tree this year.  I can’t wait to show the whole tree to you this week.

Be sure you check out all the other great ornament ideas made using DecoArt products below.  You also have a chance to win a fun prize full of amazing DecoArt products.  Good Luck, you can enter below after you check out the other projects.

These are SO cute and I even have some that I picked up from Michaels!
My question for you is how do you prevent the black paint from getting on the frame??? I’m such a sloppy painter.

I really need a chalkboard marker!

Thanks Amanda. I just painted carefully around the inside of my frame, I used a foam brush but you could use a smaller detail paint brush to do that part if you aren’t as confident in keeping the paint where it should be. 😉 And yes you NEED a chalkboard marker, you can pick them up at every craft store!
