Easy Halloween Art

09/18/2014 Leave a Comment

Easy Halloween ArtYesterday I shared these Easy Halloween Cupcake Toppers & Wrappers, and I told you I would have even more cute Halloween decor to share with you.  Today I’m sharing this Easy Halloween Art, you probably already have enough supplies on hand to create it.

Supplies:

–  large picture frame with wood backing
–  gold spray paint
–  white acrylic paint
–  foam brush
–  black vinyl
–  Cricut Explore cutting machine
–  Cricut cutting mat

After taking a quick peak around my stash of decor I remembered I had a large scalloped unfinished wood frame that I had been meaning to do something with.  It was perfect for this project.  I simply took out the wood backing and gave it a couple quick coats of white paint, I like DecoArt Americana Multi-Surface paints for quick projects like this.

While the white paint was drying I took the frame outside and spray painted it gold, yes I always have gold spray paint on hand – it’s a must!

After setting everything aside to dry I created a quick quote in photoshop and uploaded it to my Cricut Design Space.  I was able to transform it into a cuttable file within seconds, one of my favorite features about the Explore.

Easy Halloween ArtAfter designing my image and sizing it to fit in the frame I cut it out on to black vinyl.

I then weeded (removed) the parts I didn’t need, applied some transfer tape to the vinyl and was sure to remove air bubbles.

Easy Halloween ArtAfter the wood backing for the frame was dry I put it back in the freshly gold painted frame.

I centered my vinyl image, and began at one corner…peeling the paper back away slowly and carefully.  If you start in a small section and make sure it is adhered then gently roll the vinyl image on to the surface while removing the paper backing you are more likely to get a centered image.

Easy Halloween ArtThat’s it, you’re done!  So quick right?  This was such an easy project, I love how it turned out.  The black – white – and gold are perfect together.  You can create any Halloween saying or quote in Cricut Design Space, or in another editing program and upload it to Design Space.
