Fall Wood Banner

10/13/2014 24 Comments

Fall Wood BannerToday I’m excited to be teaming up with 75 awesome bloggers to share tons of Fall Harvest Ideas with you.  There is everything from Crafts, Recipes, to Home Decor and much more…we have you completely covered for Fall inspiration!  My contribution is this Fall Wood Banner.

I actually made this banner last month for Pat Catan’s Crafts Stores.  Each month they feature a couple of bloggers and a project of theirs.  They display the project and all the supplies needed to make the project on a Pinterest Inspired end cap.  It makes it so easy for shoppers to grab everything they need, it’s such a great idea.  Today I’m showing you how easy these cute Fall Wood Banners are to make.  When you are done be sure to check out all the other amazing Fall Harvest Ideas below.

Supplies:

–  wood banner kit
–  acrylic paint in fall colors
–  stencil tape or painters tape
–  stencil of your choice
–  stencil adhesive (optional)
–  round foam brush
–  regular foam brush

Fall Wood BannerPaint 3 of your wood pennant pieces a tan color.  Paint the remainder of your wood pennant pieces a creamy white color.  Let dry.

Fall Wood BannerUsing the round foam brush paint 2 of your wood pennant pieces with polka dots, these are 1″ dots.

Fall Wood BannerFor the stenciled 2 wood pennant pieces you will need carefully stencil the design on.  I experimented with stencil adhesive which is totally an optional step,  I happened to really like it.  It helped to hold my stencil in place since it’s a smaller stencil.  Cover the whole front of the wood pennant piece with your stenciled pattern.  Let dry.

Fall Wood BannerFor the tan pieces use stencil tape or painters tape to tape a pattern similar to the one shown, then paint and let dry.  Once dry peel off tape.

Fall Wood BannerWhen everything is dry and finished you can string your wood pennant pieces on a piece of jute twine.

Fall Wood BannerHang with your favorite fall decor.  You can use this indoors or outdoors, if you do chose to put it outside be sure to seal it properly.

I love that you painted it instead of just covering it with paper. It turned out so pretty! I love the whole arrangement. I’ve never seen books stacked page side out, but I think it looks awesome!

i really like this whole vignette, with the turned around books for uniformity, but with the pops of fall color from the covers peaking. great!
